Cardiff NDB

This is yet another NDB which is situated within the perimeter of an airfield and this time it is Cardiff airport.

The airfield is located some 12 miles outside Cardiff not far from a place I know very well, Barry island. I used to visit there when I was a child and have many happy memories of it, my grandfather was in charge of the large army stores and I more or less had the run of the place!

The NDB is situated on the airfield just to the side and at the end of the main runway. If you look at an online map, there are two masts that could be candidates but the one nearest the runway end is the NDB. This is the one shown in the above photo from Microsoft Live Maps.

For some reason the NDB is not a strong signal with me so no trace photo is supplied.

You will find Cardiff NDB on 388.500 kHz and its position is given by the internet as 512336N and 0032016W.
